MRI is Non-invasive, rapid and safe
MRI stands for “magnetic resonance imaging”. MRI scanners use strong magnetic fields and radio waves to generate high-quality images of the body part being scanned. It is excellent for diagnosing neurological conditions, musculoskeletal conditions and cancer. With this technology, veterinarians can now determine more accurately the cause and location of many animal diseases. Although MRI is normally a noninvasive technique, contrast agents can be administered to a patient to enhance a region of interest. MRI has the added benefit of not using ionizing radiation. At AAi, we only use the most recent state-of-the-art high-field scanners for our pet patients. We use a 1.5 Tesla MRI which provides images with more clarity and in less time than a low-field MRI.
